ABOUT ADOPTING A DOG: Adopting a pet means a life commitment for a precious life. Are you able to provide a stable home for the rest of his/her life? Please THINK before you CALL.
All MHS dogs have been spayed or neutered (age and health permitting), vaccinated, and given a microchip. Adoption fees are shown in each dog's profile. If you wish to know more about a pet please contact their foster parent. If you are unable to reach the foster parent after several tries then please call our main line at 905-271-0883 and leave a message.
Sometimes people ask which pets are hardest to find adoptive homes for. They are the older dogs and the larger dogs.
foster homes also are greatly needed.
Roxy - I am a beautiful Rottweiler mix, approximately 6 years old, 100lb.
I was rescued wondering the streets and close to starvation. Tks to MHS I am now in a foster home, but I still need to look for a forever home. People say I am a beauty, very smart and also very affectionate. I am a very friendly girl who likes to meet new people while at the same time treasuring my naps at the feet of my foster mom. I am completely house-trained and I can be trusted to be left alone with free rein of the house. Being the smart dog that I am, my proud foster mom says that I am a pleasure to walk on leash and my heel command is outstanding! I have mastered all the basic canine commands with ease. I am an excellent car companion and I rarely bark. One of the most pleasurable parts of my life is my twice daily, one-hour walks and my weekly hikes with my foster mom. I have shared a foster home with other dogs and get along great with my canine counterparts with proper introduction. I am a bit protective of my foster mom towards other dogs when I am on a leash. I have never lived with a feline but the cats in the vet’s office look like a lot of fun to play with. Due to my age and size, I would be best suited to a spacious household with adults and children 12 years and older who can actively participate in my socialization, training and doggie activities. I know I would make a great addition to a confident, dedicated and active household with large dog experience and lots of love to share. I am a loveable pooch, and will do my best to brighten the lives of all I meet! Are you the one who can provide me with a well-deserved second chance? Please contact foster parent. ADOPTION FEE: $128
Misty - I am a Yellow Labrador X, 5-6 yrs old.
Here's a bio by my foster parent: "Misty is a sweet girl; she is intelligent and smart. She knows her sit, stay, down basic commands. she probably knows more than she lets on. However, she needs direction and guidance - an experienced handler, (especially on leash) is required. She is gentle, affectionate and wants to please, but not sure how. She will follow you around like a curious puppy. She gets along with other dogs. She would do well in a house with a backyard to run around in. She should go to a home without small kids" Please contact MHS 905-271-0883. ADOPTION FEE: $198.
Teddy - I am a pure breed Chow Chow , male, about 10 years old and 60 lb.
Here's a bio by my foster mom: "Teddy is a very handsome dog who is in good shape. He is a very sweet and loving dog who loves staying with his people all the time. We think he is good with kids too. Teddy enjoys his daily long walks; keeping squirrels out of his way or just sitting/lying down and admiring the nature. Teddy is well behaved at home; however, he does not like to be left alone for long hours by himself. He would make an excellent companion". Please contact foster parent Cindy Adoption fees $158.00
