Adoptable Pets To Now Be Listed On The Toronto Pet Daily

Starting today, all adoptable pets will now be placed on The Toronto Pet Daily. As I stated on that site, the reason for doing so is simple. Currently, that site gets over 1000 daily visits, where as this blog unfortunately gets less than 100. Simply put, more exposure = more pets getting adopted, and that is the main purpose after all!

If you have an animal that you would like to place for adoption, please email torontopetdaily@gmail.com and the information will be posted on The Toronto Pet Daily.

In addition, don't forget to "Like" the Toronto Pet Daily Facebook page, where you can keep up to date on info, see albums of those animals who have been adopted, and post your pet if you wish.

Orso needs a new family! I'd like to introduce you to our best friend, Orso. Orso is a German Sheppard and was born in Bolton, Ontario on December 24, 2005. We watched Orso being born and we knew we wanted him as soon as we saw him. Orso came home with us after 8 weeks. Unfortunately he came home to a house that was full of anger, hurt and violence - but Orso was never mistreated - he was loved from day one and continues to be so. He has always stayed by our side no matter what. A year ago, my children, Orso and I left this horrible life and started a new life in Newmarket, Ontario where we began to rebuild our lives. Orso is full of life, he "hangs out" with the kids and their friends, plays hide & seek and tag! Sometimes i think he thinks he's not a dog! He is just always around - he loves people, has never shown any aggression to people, not even barking at them. Orso has always been great with other dogs, until last year, within the first month of us moving to our new home, Orso was attacked by a neighbour's dog which at first terrified him, we even had a hard time getting him outside for his walks - but we persisted. But that fright turned into aggressiveness towards other dogs - he just doesn't like them. This is the only aggression he shows. Orso makes his rounds at night - from one child's bed to another and usually wakes up at the foot of my bed. He loves his walks and especially loves snow! He enjoys car rides very much - sometimes i just load him in the van, just him and I, and drive around to clear my head and know that i have my best friend with me and that i am well protected. But now, our past has come back to hurt us again and it's forced me to have to sell our home. This has left me financially unstable and we will have to move in with family - my parents - and because of this, we have to say goodbye to our beloved Orso. My father is severely allergic to dogs and therefore we can't take Orso with us. My kids and I are devastated, its probably one of the most difficult decisions we've had to make. It's not something we want to do, but we must. I know that Orso will bring lots of joy to any family. He needs to go to a family that will love him as much as we have because i know he'll give that love back ten-fold. We are running out of time because we have to move out of our home on September 24th. Please help. 8 Year Old Pooch Needs A New Home As His Owner Is Ill - So Sad

I have a patient that unfortunately has a very aggressive metastatic cancer and despite our treatment attempts, is not responding favorably. There is a good chance that he will not be around in the upcoming month. He had an appointment with me today but did not feel well enough to attend his appointment and rather than cancelling the appointment, asked his sister to come on his behalf. During my discussion with her, I asked about his dog and the family's plans for him and shockingly learned that Grinder, my patient's 8 yo pitbull/bull dog companion (so named because when he was a puppy, he liked to dance to Elvis music), would be euthanized once my patient passes.

As a result, I am asking for your help in circulating this information around. I am hoping there is someone out there who can and will be willing to step forward to help Grinder out.

I personally have not met Grinder but the stories I hear about this dog are absolutely wonderful and it would be such a tremendous disgrace to the human race to allow such a loyal and perfectly healthy companion to be euthanized. I was not able to get any pictures but I've been told the dog is beautiful and weighs approximately 50 lbs and is wonderful with people.

Gus *declawed*'s Story...
DOB July 15, 2006. Gus is a super-affectionate guy. He loves to cuddle and shows his love with kitty-licks just like a little dog! He was rescued from a high volume shelter and settled in instantly at his foster home. Gus is a very unique guy who makes his foster parents laugh many times a day! He has the funny habit of waiting to lap up any potential drips from the bathtub faucet. His favourite toys are plastic balls with bells inside which he chases around and around the house. At night he loves to be spooned, and will happily snooze all night long in his spot on the bed.
Gus has had an upper respiratory virus since being rescued from the shelter. He has made several trips to the vet, who has concluded he has a chronic condition that may be with him for life. Gus isn't bothered by this condition in the least, but his breathing sounds loud and congested and he has bouts of sneezing or coughing. It can be easily managed through good food and nutritional supplements. He enjoys the company of other cats and would do well with other cats who have been exposed to the upper respiratory virus.

Because he is declawed, he has the tendency to nip - it is not painful, but he would do best in a home with older children or adults. Gus is so excited to find his forever home where he will be loved and cuddled and pampered.

Lance's Story...
DOB January 1, 2009. Lance was rescued from a high volume shelter were he was on death row. TCR became aware of him because their shelter contact was his champion and really wanted him to be rescued. At the time of rescue Lance had a condition where his eye lid was turned in and he needed surgery quickly! TCR saved this very sweet and affectionate boy from the cold, lonely shelter cage and got him straight to a vet. He had corrective surgery for his eye and was neutered at the same time. He went to a caring foster home to recover from his surgery. A couple of weeks later, at a recheck appointment, the vet determined he needed a second surgery on his eye. Finally, Lance's eye is on the mend and he is a happy boy once again. He just needs a forever home.
Lance is a very social and friendly boy. He gets along with dogs and other cats. Lance is FIV+, but please do not let this faze you - he is currently healthy and with a loving, low stress home and good food, this little champ can lead a long, happy life. He will be fine in a home with non-FIV+ cats as well. Please consider Lance to be a part of your family - he deserves a second chance at happiness in a caring home. He promises to return your love 100 times over!

DOB January 15, 2010. Maxamillionaire is a very affectionate kitty who absolutely adores attention! He thrives at cuddling and loves to be patted - his purrs are never ending. Maxamillionaire will happily roll onto his back for anyone who promises to give him a belly rub!! This amazing cat will blossom in his new home where he will enjoy a carefree life of cozy blankets, food a plenty and (hopefully) treats! Maxamillionaire is a simple guy who enjoys watching the world go by, or perhaps a game of chasing string.
This sweet little black and white cat who looks like a little cow is currently seeking his forever home. Ideally, his forever home will not have other pets. This young dude was rescued from the lonely streets of a very rural community and placed into the care of a loving foster home. With his days as a stray behind him, Maxamillionaire is enjoying the comforts of home living.

Melkie Is A Snowshoe Siamese Needing A Loving Home

Please meet handsome Melki (Melchior). This kitty cat was a stray in a housing complex on Kingston Road. He was being cared for by one of the residents for a while, but not any more because he did not get along with her cats. He is approximately 1 year old and has now been neutered and has had his vaccinations. The vet did detect a heart murmur. The vet pegged Melki as a Snowshoe Siamese. He has striking blue eyes and beautiful markings.

When I picked him up this week, he was super affectionate, full of head rubs and lots of purrs and intense loving looks. I was very taken with him! He is also a very intelligent cat. We think that he would be better as an only cat, as other felines seem to stress him out. He was not very happy with being taken to yet another vet for boarding. I sure do hope to get him out of there and into a home as quickly as possible!

This is such a wonderful opportunity to adopt a Snowshoe, and to give this poor guy the loving home that he so deserves. Based on what I saw, you will be rewarded with a lot of love and affection in return.

Temporary Home Needed For Cats In A Bad Situation

She is terrified of leaving her cats in the home of her abuser in case he harms them and cannot take them with her to the temporary home she has found for herself because the person there is highly allergic to cats. Cats Need Rescuing From Hamilton Animal Control

Hello,

Most of you know we rescue cats on the rarest of occasions. But as an exeption, we agreed to help and try to rescue a few cats.

The Hamilton Animal Control sent us a list of cats-16 of them on Monday- these cats were in dire need to get out as the Hamilton Animal Control does not have an adoption program. Out of the 16 cats, we only managed to hold 1 cat. Jack the Scraggly Black Cat.

Sadly, the rest that were marked "urgent" were all put down on Tuesday morning.

A mother and her 6 wks kittens were put down and a fully pregnant female were not spared.

We are making sure the cats we are trying to help are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and have flea treatment. Most are declawed (done when they were someone's pet). These are all domestic cats. None are feral. There are many more at the shelter waiting to be helped...

Pleeeaassseeee help us rescue them by fostering a kitty or two. We are desperate and it is so disheartening to see those faces and not be able to help.

This is urgent-as they will be put down . Euthanazia days are Tuesdays and Fridays.

If anyone can help foster the following kitties please let us know ASAP. We have a driver available to go to Hamilton to help transport the cats by 2h00pm Thursday if we find foster homes. It would be nice to bring back a cat or two before they get put down on Friday. If there is any cats you can foster after this date, please let us know as we can also put the cats on HOLD to delay euthanazia date.

6 Year Old Poodle Needs A New Home

Breed: Purebred Miniature Poodle

Age: 6

Vetting: Neutred, vaccinated, dewormed

Weight: 15 lbs

Temperament: Leo is a very good dog. He is very intelligent and should be placed with a very experienced dog owner.

No biting history. May nip or snap when placed in a fearful situation. He grew up with 4 other dogs and was fine with them but is nervous with dogs and people he doesnt know. Needs work on socializing. Former owner worked p/t so Leo is used to being left alone for 4-6 hrs at a time.

House trained. A very loveable, extremely affectionate, loyal and eager to please dog. Will be quick to learn. Just needs to be taught.

Leo grew up with 4 other poodles. He just came out of a very stressful situation. Last year his owner was admitted to the hospital. Sadly, she was very sick and was not able to notify anyone that she was not home. By the time family members realized she was not home, the dogs were left alone for a period of time in which they then discovered one of the dogs died. The rest were frightened out of their mind. For several months her sons stopped by the house to care for them until the mother was healthy enough to return home. By the time she came back, she realized she was not healthy enough to care for them and placed them in various rescue groups. She kept Leo, the last one left thinking she was okay to handle one dog.

Two days ago, she had another spill, fell and banged her head and face. She was very bruised and bleeding. She was very distraught and Leo was frightened but tried to protect her by not letting anyone near them. In her confusion and fear, she dropped Leo to the pound, worried that he would be left alone. She was then brought to the hospital. Her son called me afterwards for help.

While on a trip to Montreal a few weeks ago, I did visit the owner to give her training tips on Leo. She was my mother's former neighbor so I knew the dogs when they were very young.

Leo was barking non stop at me during the first visit. He wouldnt let me pet him. After visiting a second time-I saw an improvement. The barking lessen. Alone with him he was very good! I walked him on my own and he was very good on the leash (harness). We went passed people and dogs with no issue at all. He let me pet and hug him...He sat and following me around their house. A real cutie. When I watched the owner walk him-it was a different story. He kept wanting to be carried and barked at people and dogs walking by. The dynamic completely changed. He was very protective of her.

I dont think the owner exposed him to much. I wanted to see him play and when I gave him a stuffy and a ball...He didnt seem to "know how". I gave him a chew bone. He was happy with it and started chewing on it and the owner was amazed at how still he was...I asked if she ever gave him a bone and she said he never had one....

I have attached pictures of Leo. He would do great with the right people but would be a challenge for the novice.

I really like this dog. I wish I can add another dog in my home! I think he is intelligent, adorable and with tons of character. He is very affectionate and gives kisses. Likes to be glued to his owner and leans right against you when is used to you. He would make a very loyal companion. He is protective and will be in your face giving kisses when he likes you. A vocal dog that likes to tell you off (little muffled grunts) when he is unsure of something. Once he trusts you, you will have a little shadow following you.

I am hoping to find someone who can foster him or rescue him and provide him a home that will keep him safe and secure.

We have till 5pm Eastern Time (Friday) to confirm with transport in Montreal to get him over to Ontario. Please, please please, lets make this happen. This is too sweet of a dog not to help.

Sweet 5 Year Old Dog Needs A Home

Wiki is aprx 5yrs old

She was adopted from a foster home and lived with other dogs and small children. She got along with the children just fine. The other dogs picked on her. So I'm not sure if she is best suited as a single pet? I guess it depends on the dogs.

Prior to the foster home she was living in the "country" and was abused by 2 teenage boys. She is timid around men, not aggressive at all. But takes time to warm up to them.

She now lives in the city and she does not like walks due to all the noise around her. It spooks her and she has managed to get off her leash. She is not well suited for an apartment and cannot go in elevators.

She is just about the sweetest little thing, she loves cuddling and will follow you around everywhere. She likes to sleep with you at night at the end of the bed. She is pretty playful and would do really really well if she had a backyard to hang out in. She has good manners. She knows her basic commands. She needs someone with a lot of love to give and patience. She really would just like someone to snuggle up with for the rest of her life and live in peace:)

Kirby The Cat Needs A Loving Family

Please meet Kirby. Kirby has had the unfortunate experience of living outside for 4 years while someone was taking care of him. They never thought to fix him and as a result he got in numerous fights. The last one almost did him in. He had an abscess on his cheek that was so bad that blood was coming out of his eye. He has been under our vets care for almost a month and we are happy to say that his abscess has finally healed and he has put on a bit of weight. His eye is still a little droppy as this was the side of the abscess.

He is neutered and up to date with vaccinations. He was tested positive for FIV. He is a healthy boy now and is looking for a loving foster or permanent home as he has suffered enough.

He is guestimated at 5 years oldish!!! His tongue sometimes comes out of his sweet little mouth but that just makes him look even cuter than he is.

This boy deserves a chance at a second chance.

Brother And Sister (Brussels Griffons) Need A New Home

Bear and Bijoux are Brussels Griffons (like the little dog in the movie “As good as it gets”). They are litter mates, brother and sister, born June 17, 2005. They need to stay together. They are current on all shots and are in good health, have been spayed and neutered. Both are micro chipped. They each weigh just at 18 pounds. They are extremely loving and just want to please. Lucy Is A 1 Year Old Lab/Vizla Looking For A New Home

Lucy's a young girl who needs to find a new home through no fault of her own. Lucy's a chocolate lab/vizsla cross, and probably a bit more! She weighs about 55-60 pounds, and she'll be one year old on/around June 7th! She's a sweet, gentle, happy-go-lucky girl who gets along well with everyone and loves to give kisses. She has spent most of her young life living with another dog, and has spent time around cats, children and babies. Lucy is house-trained, crate-trained and doesn't mind being left alone. Lucy rarely barks, and usually only when startled. She can play with other dogs for hours, but also loves lounging around the house. Lucy would benefit from basic training class. Lucy's still got a bit of the puppy bounce left, and would love a family will keep her busy.

My story: In August 2010 I found this nice lady who would feed me twice a day and give me lots of treats. Temptations are my fav! She couldn’t take me in to her home because she had 2 dogs and they do not like cats. Boy, are they missing out! In January 2011 I got into a scuffle and got a cut in my leg. It got infected so the nice lady immediately arranged for me to see a vet about my wound and at the same time, got me vaccinated and neutered. All went well in my recovery foster home – I was in purrfect health. A few weeks later I was adopted but it seems that with my current owner’s lifestyle and my separation anxiety, it’s not working out. I need someone who can help me work on that and be home more often or someone who has a cat already and wants a playmate. I’m a big fur ball of love waiting to be someone’s FOREVER pet.

He is very relaxed for the most part, not really into playing...he loves his scratching post and it's the only thing he's scratched (and I will give that to whomever takes him if they want it, along with the rest of his things)...he loves to eat, he's fairly quiet (not much of a meower) and he's very good if you need to clean his ears or clip his nails. He loves to be brushed.

But he's timid, scared of anything noisy (dishwasher, vacuum, hair dryer) he even runs away if I am changing the garbage and shaking the plastic bag...

Two Awesome Cats, Mac & Abby, Need A Home ASAP

Hi,

I’m sorry to bother you with this but I’m writing to see if we can get your help or ask you to please check within your circle to see if you know anyone that is interested in adopting 2 fantastic cats. It is with great sadness that we are forced to find a new family for our two cats, Mac and Abby.

My wife, Mary, has something called Lupus and among other symptoms and issues, has developed Asthma and allergies to certain things. While we knew she had this problem several years ago, it was only a minor issue and in our previous house, we installed a hospital grade air cleaning system from IQ Air that kept the problem in check, along with regular vacuuming and cleaning of course. About 18 months ago, we moved into a condo because the stairs were becoming too much of an issue for Mary’s joints, another related problem, so we needed to keep things on a single level. When we moved, we also bought a portable air cleaning unit, again, the best we could find, and that kept things in check for while. Unfortunately, over the past year, her asthma and breathing issues have worsened and while she was told she shouldn’t be around cats, we tried to manage the problem by adding a second air cleaning unit in the apartment and after a weeklong visit to the hospital in November, we added a third unit to try to help. It is unfortunately, not helping enough and there is nothing more we can do and now, since the cats are mentioned in the doctor notes, if we do not do something about it, it will also present an insurance issue as she has been unable to work for some time now due to overall problems associated with Lupus.

Anyway, I’m sorry for the lengthy message and I’m not trying to share our problems with anyone, especially since there are far worse issues at play in the world today but I simply am hoping that you realize it is only after doing everything we can that we have reached the point where we simply must remove Mac and Abby from our home. We have tried our immediate family and contacts but with no luck.

They really are wonderful cats. Very affectionate, always around and very friendly with visitors as well. Mac is about 2 and a half years old now and Abby is about 3 and a half. They are both healthy and have all necessary medical treatments. We can provide Vet details and they will confirm. Also, (we can have a conversation about this because it is a discussion on its own) they have only been fed raw food or canned food since we have had them, never dry food. We hope this practice can continue and we will be happy to pay for the added cost of providing this to them. In addition, they have been trained to use scratching posts, we have two, since they have all their claws. Again, they ONLY scratch on the posts and this hasn’t been an issue for us. We will gladly provide these as well. In addition. Since we won’t need all three air cleaning units, I will give one away with the cats. It has extra carbon filters for better odour control and is worth about $1,300.

I guess in short, I’m just reaching out to see if you or anyone you know might be interested in meeting them and possible adopting them. I know the folks at Forgotten Ones already have their hands full but I wanted to include them in this in case they have any ideas. Since Mac and Abby have been together for about 2.5 years now, I would definitely want them to stay together if possible. I really can’t bear the thought of them in a cage somewhere but I don’t know how much longer we can keep them here. Mary is using her short term relief inhaler more frequently and I don’t know how long this can continue. We probably waited a little too long before making this decision but we just couldn’t accept it I guess.

Well, please respond so I at least know you have read this and please take a few minutes to see if you can help. Again, if you think you have a good home but money is an issue, we can help with that if necessary.

Hi All,

I was contacted by a friend of my aunt who has been looking after his aunt's affairs since she has moved to a nursing home. At first it was thought that his aunt might return home, but sadly she cannot. She is distraught that she could not take her beloved cats with her. They have been waiting for her return and have been taken care of in her home since June of last year. The nephew has been trying to find a new home for them for several months now. He has not been successful, and is running out of time since the house where they are still living must be sold within the next month or two.

In his words, these are two happy cats (a bit overweight) who don't do much but sleep and play. They are affectionate., and are indoor cats, about 10 years old. Neutered and up to date with their shots, and no known medical issues. I spoke with one of their caretakers, a lady named Hanit who is very fond of them. She said that they are playful and full of love and affection, and that they are lap cats.

These brothers are named Walter and Dexter. They are handsome brown tabbies who have been together since they were kittens. We are trying to find them a home where they can stay together, as they have always been. It will be traumatic enough for them to move to a new home, after losing their 'mom'. This is a wonderful opportunity to provide them with a loving home where they can continue to stay together and transfer their love to their new family.

Walter and Dexter will come with all of their cat paraphernalia, litter boxes, beds, scratching posts, food and dishes, carriers, all those familiar things that will make the transition easier. And also easier for their new family to have all of their belongings.

We are looking for a loving home for our super affectionate, happy and charming companion dog, Jersey. Jersey is a 7 year old, certified purebred, female, tri-colour Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Jersey has had all of her shots, is healthy and neutered. We are heartbroken but our toddler has severe allergies.

Cavalier's love people, enjoy companionship, and are eager and willing to please. They are not suited to kennel life and should not be left alone all day. Urgent - time is limited: we are desperately seeking rescue for Paully a 3 year old, German Shepherd Mix, He is Neutered and UTD.
Paully is filled with a zest for life. In Sept, 2010 Paully's owner was forced to surrender two dogs due to the conditions they were kept in. While the other dog was able to roam free on the large acred property, Paully was confined to a cage at the back of the property, forced to walk around in his own feces.
He is a beautiful boy that would benefit from basic obedience and leash training. He will sit when asked and enjoys playing with a soccer ball. This special guy is desperately seeking a forever home. Although Paully was surrendered with another dog, he displays serious aggression towards other dogs and will only be adopted out to experienced dog owners and a home with no other K9 interaction. We do not know much about Paully's history but it is not recommended that he doesn't live with small animals or children, based on his activity level and lack of training. He would benefit best from a home with an energetic couple or single person that can focus their attention solely on him.

I sure do wish I had a picture here at work with me to provide in this email but I will try my best to describe my little munchkins to you.Born the first week of October 2010. First there is my only male left"Cinco", the last born of Five kittens.Black and white mix,regular fur not too long or short. He is by far the largest out of the batch and the loudest purring machine too! Cinco is very dear to me(he's my big baby) and I would keep him if I could afford him, whoever has this cat will find that he loves deeply,plays with joy and excitement and sleeps like a log. Then there is my little "Gaga Knox"...she is almost completely black like her mother and unlike her brother Cinco she is very petite. I do have a concern with Gaga evn though it may not be a problem but sometimes she seems keeps her left eye partially closed and i know that doesn't sound like much but my concern is because when she was a kitten I had to help her open that eye for the first time with a luke warm damp cloth. Other then that she is happy, healthy and full of bountiful energy! Both kittens have wonderful appetites and personalities and my husband and I are so torn over losing them but we have no choice. Gabby The Cat Needs A New Home

A couple of weeks ago I received a call from a friend who lives on a boat at Bluffers Park. When she was out walking her dog in the marina, she saw a cat who was obviously in some distress, crying and looking for help. The next morning we managed to trap this little kitty cat, who was hiding under a shed for shelter and meowing and meowing. She was so hungry, so cold.

She is a darling little brown tabby and white female. She was so thin that I could feel every bone of her backbone, and her little sides were all caved in, and her hip bones were prominent too. And her fur was pretty bedraggled. Poor baby, I guess that we will never know how she got to be where she was. Maybe she was lost first and somehow wandered down there. Or maybe she was tossed out and abandoned by some horrible person, but for sure she had been starving for some time before we rescued her.

In spite of her condition, this is a very affectionate and darling little kitty cat. Purrs when I pick her up. When I first went to see her at the vet, she never stopped meowing at me. I wish that I knew what she was trying to tell me. Anyway, because of that, there was no other name for her but Gabby. You can see her talking away in one of the pictures here, so cute!

Gabby has been at the vet for a couple of weeks now. He estimates that she is about 1 1/2 to 2 years old. She has been putting on a bit of weight, and she has now been spayed, has had her shots, Revolution and Profender, and has had a SNAP test to ensure that she is healthy. Which she is, it was negative. And now Gabby is looking for her forever home, where she can continue to flourish with love and affection and good food.

Charlie is a beautiful 4 year old neutered male English Cocker Spaniel. Here's what she says about Momma:She is a very sweet cat that would love a patient home with lots of love. She is tame meaning that she loves to be nearby people once she gets to know you aren't going to hurt her. She will also let you touch and pet her once she becomes comfortable with you. I don't think she will ever be a "pick me up all the time cat" but cuddles on her terms is already acceptable. She is not aggressive when she's scared she will run and hide. She is litter trained and likes being inside. When I had her spayed and got her shots updated the vet said she was about 2 years old and healthy. Her left eye is cloudy but the vet said it is like a scar tissue that has formed while her eye is healing from an injury (possibly a fight) that must have occurred prior to me locking her in the barn, as it has always been like this. She can see fine and it doesn't bother her at all. The vet indicated that it should go away with time. She has been putting some weight on while I have been feeding her but is still rather thin looking (in my opinion). I have attached a picture for you. If you could help in any way it would be greatly appreciated as I need to move her out of the barn asap. I have 2 dogs and bringing her into the house will cause major problems as my one dog is a husky/wolf mix who loves to chase anything that moves.

Please meet Taffy. This little girl was found by a friend of mine, wandering and lost and alone. Running across busy streets, not safe and obviously not cared for as she should be.

This little kitten's colouring is hard to describe. I have never seen one quite like her, and the pictures do not do justice to her colour. I would describe her as a brown tabby with warm orange, taffy and caramel overtones. Very striking actually, with classic tabby markings.

Miss Taffy is a very friendly and loving little kitty, who loves to be picked up and cuddled and purrs instantly. She is very playful, and is quite funny when she plays. She seems to be one of those cats who possess a lot of personality. The vet estimates her to be about 5 months old. She has now had her first shots and is in good health.

This is a wonderful opportunity to adopt a darling kitten who is already known to be loving and affectionate. 3 Stray Cats Need Warmth & Love!

Hi There...

Unfortunately during the past few months our neighborhood in Toronto has had an increasing number of stray or abandoned cats and kittens looking for shelter and food. We've contacted several Animal Rescue Organizations but unfortunately they are filled to capacity and are unable to provide any immediate assistance but will put the cats and kittens on a waiting list. We also contacted Toronto Animal Services and advised us if the cats and kittens are stressed, scared or upset once at the shelter, they will put them down. The last thing we would ever want to happen is for these sweet cats and kittens to be put down...so here we are trying to find them homes. We've put up posters in our neighborhood, ads on kijiji and craigslist looking for homes for these little guys but haven't had any interested homes as of yet. Right now we're trying to find homes for the three main cats.

1. Sex unknown..but i think it may be a female over the age of two. "She" is a long haired beauty. She is extremely affectionate and very sweet. I've been calling her honey for the past month and she responds to it. She is a greyish, whitish, with a dash of orange color. Also when she meows..no sound comes out.

2. Black long haired kitten...this kitten along with another one just came out of nowhere one day but i'm thinking they are around 6 months old. Sex is unknown at this time. This kitten is also very timid and shy and only lets me pet him/her when it is eating. Otherwise it won't come to me unless i have food around. Also this kitten is very chubby..it must be all the food we've been feeding them :)

3. Grey short haired kitten..i believe this kitten is either the brother or sister of the black long haired kitten because they are always together and look about the same size and age. This kitten is very scared of people..it will come around when food is given..i've only petted him/her a few times, while it was eating but otherwise it will definitely not let me touch it. This kitten is also a chubby little guy.

I've enclosed some pictures..if you know anyone who would be willing to give these sweet strays a home, we would greatly appreciated. We would take them in but we already have a full house of animals. It breaks our hearts seeing them out there day after day and we definitely don't want them spending the winter outdoors.

Greetings of the season to our readers and a big holiday hug for another year of helping homeless pets.Thank you to The North York Mirror for the opportunity to showcase pets of many kinds who are looking for that second chance at love and life. In this column, we introduce you to Kimmi, an exuberant black Labrador mix, and to Maurice, a handsome tabby cat with a knack for making everyone feel welcome. During this upcoming time of giving, please consider making a donation to an animal shelter or rescue group, whether it is a financial offering, supplies or a gift card; all donations are graciously accepted and appreciated. Kimmi is a year-and-a-half-old black Labrador mix whose owner surrendered her to the animal shelter for adoption because she was undergoing surgery and realized that she would no longer be able to keep up with Kimmi's high activity level and need for generous amounts of exercise. Shelter staff say that Kimmi has a sweet, charming and exuberant personality, which can be said of most young labs. Kimmi needs space to run, roll, play and run some more. A house with a fenced-in backyard is recommended over an apartment, as Kimmi is an active, outdoorsy type of girl. A family with children 12 or older is suggested, as Kimmi may accidentally knock over smaller children. A home with another dog for her to play with would be a bonus, but no cats please - Kimmi will take chase. Her future family should also be committed to taking her to obedience classes, as she needs some polishing and is an eager learner. Urban Cat Relief got a call from a community member with severe allergies who has been trying to rehome her 2 cats for months, on her doctors orders. She has not had any luck and if no home is found, these two boys will be put down NEXT WEEK (Nov. 26th)
They were rescued on a farm at about one month old and have been together since. The first cat is a super friendly, cuddly purr-miester. A black haired male with golden eyes. His brother has fluffier hair and is mostly black with white. The brother is more of a character--likes to hide food under the mat for later, sleep at the foot of the bed or sit by mom's feet while she watches tv.

Emily is a complete doll! She is an adorable cat who loves people, and loves to get attention. She’ll even happily let you rub her tummy. She is the most outgoing of the 3 sisters and is the first to greet her human friends. She is very calm and doesn’t get easily spooked. Emily plays very gently and strategically…..she is definitely the rocket scientist of the 3 sisters. She takes a few minutes to get involved with games the others are playing, but when she does, she wins. She seems to be the dominant one as well. She make the chirping noise too sometimes when you pet her. She is a very independent girl and is happy playing by herself as well as with people. She’ll be an excellent companion cat.

It’s easy to feel helpless in the face of homeless animals and overflowing shelters. But there are thousands of success stores and happy endings out there. Here are just a few to inspire you the next time you think about rescuing and animal from life in a shelter.

The Little Black Dog : Jack’s story is a mystery. Abandoned at an OSPCA shelter, Jack was a six- year-old lab and collie mix, severely underweight and totally unsocialized. Overwhelmed by fear, Jack spent nine months cowering in the corner of a cement enclosure. It was clear that he had been neglected and subjected to terrible abuse. After three failed adoptions, he seemed doomed to a life of loneliness and misery. Believing that Jack had no chance at a life outside a cage, OSPCA staff made the decision to end his pain and put him to sleep. Sometimes, though, fate intervenes when it is most needed. An OSPCA volunteer was determined to save the little black dog who had experienced such a tragic life, so she reached out to friend of hers who was also a canine trainer looking for a second dog to add to her home. Reluctantly, her friend took the time to visit with Jack, bringing along her current canine companion. While Jack had no interest in the people around him, he immediately bonded with the trainer’s dog and a lifelong partnership was formed. Jack – fearful, abused and aggressive – went home that same day with his new canine guru and became a happy member of a loving family. Now 14 years old, Jack continues to live a joyful life filled with all of the kindness and companionship that every dog deserves.

Happy Birthday – Have a Dog! : It’s never a good idea to give an animal as a birthday present, but that is how Scooby began her life with people. A six-month-old stray adopted from the OSPCA by a well-meaning friend, Scooby was an absolute terror and a hurricane of destruction. Three couches met their maker thanks to her determined work, and walking in the park was an exercise in uncontrolled chaos and exploration of mud puddles. It was only the determination of her new companion that saved Scooby from being returned to the shelter, and that effort was repaid a thousand times over. As Scooby grew older, and her companion learned the basics of obedience training, she became a friend, a compatriot and an incredible dog. By the time
Scooby was four, she was able to accompany her companion to work and even attended lectures at UofT. (It should be noted that, while Scooby contributed little to classroom debates, her presence was always welcome.) Throughout her life, Scooby had many animal companions and embraced the world around her.
After nearly 14 years of love and laughter, she went peacefully to sleep in her companion’s arms.

One Snowy Night : Snow and sleet were covering the Toronto streets on the night that Horton was found curled and shivering in the shelter of a doorway. A feral kitten only six weeks old, he was malnourished and in need of veterinary care when he was discovered by a young student. On impulse, she took him to her local vet and then into her home. Too young to be separated from his mother, Horton was hand fed a mixture of
cat milk and softened kitten food, bonding with his new companion in the process. With time, kindness and patience, he eventually flourished into an indomitable character; curious, fearless and confident. Today, Horton is the 18 year old patriarch of a house filled with other animals.

A Bunny Runs Free : Small animals such as rabbits are often impulsively brought into a home much to the delight of young children who quickly lose interest in these amazing animals. This was the case of Patches, a two-year-old Rex who had been consigned to a small cage in a dark basement once his young owners had turned their attention to a new puppy. It was simple luck that changed Patches’ life when a house guest, heartbroken by the state of an isolated and ignored bunny, made the decision to transform his world by taking him home. From basement cage to free run of an entire house, Patches returned to the social, engaging and curious creature that he naturally was, living out the rest of his life in the company of animals and, occasionally, venturing out into the wondrous world of the backyard garden.

TAKING ACTION: WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP

Each of these stories is different, but they do have a single theme in common. One action makes a huge difference. One rescue changes a life. It is easy to be overwhelmed by the sheer number of animals in need of rescue, but focusing on a single action that will change a single life makes the challenge manageable. One person cannot change the world, but one person can change the life of an animal in need. The stories of Jack and Horton, Patches and Scooby, all demonstrate that rescue happens in small steps…but those small steps make an incredible difference.

7 Month Kittens (A Rescued Litter) All Need New Families

The two adorable tortoiseshells are sisters who are approximately 7 months old, and have been dewormed, no shots yet. These little cuties were found living in a back yard, and were rescued. It would be wonderful to keep these two loving kittens together if possible.

The other 4 are siblings approximately 3 months old. It seems that the litter was abandoned and dumped. Fortunately my friend found them and caught them before any harm could come to them. I just cannot imagine how scared and cold and hungry they must have been. And yet in spite of that, they are affectionate, playful little purring machines.
These little darlings have been dewormed and had their first vaccinations.

So much fun, all of them, Here is a perfect opportunity to open your home and your heart to a rescued kitten, or why not open your home to a pair of siblings?

Rescued 4 Yeard Old Kitty Daniel Needs A New Home

On Sunday October 3rd, somewhere between 10:30 a.m. and noon, someone left a carrier on my friend's front porch. The carrier had 'HELP ME PLEASE' scrawled across the top of it. Inside the carrier was this darling little tabby and white unneutered kitty cat. He has since been named Daniel.

Of course my friend took him in, but Daniel became very upset, terrified even, when he saw other cats. As a temporary measure he is being boarded at the vet in a room by himself. But this is obviously not an ideal solution.

Daniel is estimated to be approximately 4 years old. He is a small cat. He has now been neutered and has had his vaccinations. He is a very friendly little guy, affectionate and purring.

I am looking for a wonderful forever home for Daniel. He needs to be the only cat in the household. Female Kitten Looking For A Loving Home

Home needed for loving kitten in GTA: This little girl was recently rescued by my mother. She is only a few months old, and already she has had more adventure than some will ever know. She was bought at a pet store. Her owner was leaving the country; she ended up living in the basement of a store, a small space under a staircase with only a shoe box for litter. This kitten was frightened. My mom brought her home, and within hours she transformed into a loving, outgoing, affectionate little girl.
My parents recently spent weeks trying to get their very territorial senior cat to accept a new cat, to no avail. She is being kept separated as a temporary situation. This little girl needs a home of her very own as soon as possible. She has been spayed and received all vaccinations, and she is less than a year old. Etobicoke Humane Society Holds Open House, Encourages Pet Adoption

The Etobicoke Humane Society (EHS) will host an open house next month to help its furry friends find families.

On Saturday, Nov. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., EHS will open it doors at 1500 Royal York Rd., offering a reduced adoption fee of $99 to encourage adoption of EHS shelter animals. "There are so many homeless animals, and for us to continue to help them, we need to make room for more," said Jennifer Grado, EHS volunteer and adoption coordinator. "We are urging the public to open their hearts and homes to a new pet. They too need a home and a warm bed to curl up on." Although the EHS shelter houses only cats, Lorraine Houston of Speaking of Dogs - a Toronto-based dog rescue organization that works with EHS - will be on hand with information about dog adoption. There will also be program information, free literature and many volunteers to speak with, including EHS's volunteer cruelty investigators. "Even if you're not looking to adopt, there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer," EHS president William Blain said in a statement. "We run a number of programs, including: public relations, fundraising, humane education, cruelty investigation, cat and dog fostering, and office administration. Dexter (10 Month Springer Spanial) Looking For A Loving Home

Meet Dexter!! Full of energy and intelligence, Dexter is a 10 month old male purebred Field Bred Springer Spaniel, and he's looking for a family to call his very own.

Dexter is of a "hard wired" disposition to hunt and thus needs a daily job, to meet his high energy/intellectual requirements.

Severely neglected from puppy, until 7 mos old, Dex has severe separation anxiety and will need a skilled adopter, willing and patient, to meet his breed type requirements. Dex is very "pack oriented" and will do best with other stable dogs in his family pack. He would be happiest in an adoptive home, offering agility or field trial training.

Dexter is great on and off leash. He loves to run, jump and chase our two other dogs in the bush but always comes back when called. He is great at playing with other dogs and plays well with toys. He has learned to play fetch, tug of war, and chase stuffies (although he also plays with socks :) ). Dexter also has amazing leaping ability and would do extremely well at agility or Frisbee. He enjoys car rides so no problem driving him to the dog park or agility course!. .

Dexter can get anxious when left alone. He has made great progress with his separation anxiety because when he first came to us, he couldn't settle at all and would pace the entire day until he slept. There is no doubt that with stability, exercise and a family of his own, Dexter will continue to improve and his anxiety will be a distant memory.

The only other area where Dex needs some work is his 'counter surfing' behaviour. He has stolen everything from fine steaks to toast and at times garbage off the counters (he did live with a blind man so who can blame him). We have tempered this behaviour by setting up cans with food attached (he pulls the food and the cans come crashing down and he gets a fright). This has helped but he is so smart that he can figure out if the food is near cans to not take it, but if not - fair game :)

All in all he is a joy to have around, and is an extremely loving, fun, athletic and energetic dog. He loves the outdoors, and with his natural leaping ability and speed he will make a great athletic companion. The potential in Dex is limitless.

We will be sad to see Dex go but know that he will make the right family very happy.

Queen Latifah ("Queenie") is a very friendly and affectionate domestic long-hair cat. Queenie has lovely black and white markings, long whiskers, and bright yellowy-green eyes. She loves to have her head scratched and belly rubbed, and doesn’t like to miss out on any excitement. She will lie beside you while you work on the computer and come to say hello to any visitors. 5 Month Kitten Needs To Move!

Lila - Sweet Doggy Looking For A Loving Family

Meet baby Lila! Lila belonged to a family that didn’t pay much attention to her and allowed her to wander the streets in Mexico. Because she is only a puppy she was not street wise and got hit badly by a car (claims the owners) – however the vet thinks that her injury is a result of being hit repeatedly with a solid object. Sadly however a hip fracture occurred - no one other than Lila and her previous owners know the truth. Lila underwent hip surgery to repair the damage (she has one screw) and after 3 weeks she was running on all four legs again in her foster’s garden (with supervision so she didn’t overdue it). Lila is the sweetest puppy with lots of energy. She craves attention and loves everything. She is gaining some much-needed weight at the moment, has already been spayed and is deparasited. Lila may need vitamins for her bones in later years and really needs to find a home that understands special need pets. Angel & Alice - Two Sweet Cats Needing Homes

Please share with anyone that can help get "Angel", or her 5 month old kitten "Alice", a forever home. Angel is a young female white and black cat who was born in a school yard and moved, by her mom with her litter mates, to a kind family's back yard. They provided food, water, shelter and love, so Angel stayed there. May 18, 2010 she gave birth to a litter, was a great mom and forever homes were found for all but one of the litter, Alice. The family had decided to keep Alice if a home could not be found. Angel was slated for TNRM when it was discovered her tail was badly infected. Before URC could get her to the vet, part of her tail had fallen off, but she was alert. Rushed to vet, she was spayed, vaccinated and her tail taken care of surgically. Angel seems to have realized how wonderful it is to get belly rubs, petting, and affection. Love is now met with soft purrs. Angel is now back in a cage in the garage of the family that has cared for her but we would all love her to find her forever home/family. They would bring Angel in, if a home can be found for Angel's daughter Alice. Alice is a super friendly, cute, curious kitten who is used to people, children, ferrets, dogs and cats. Cats Needing A New Home...Willow & Riley

Must find a home for my 2 adult cats as I am moving and my partner is allergic.

Willow is approximately 8 years old, silver/gray, very loving. She is a little timid at first but once she gets to know you, she is a real lap cat. She likes to sleep at the foot of the bed unless you aren't feeling well. Then she likes to lay beside you so she can watch over you. She is very smart and you never have to worry about forgetting to feed them because once she sees the bottom of her bowl, she will let you know.

Riley is 5 and he is black and white. He is adorable, very affectionate, loves to cuddle beside you and sleep at night. He's a real kisser. If he wants affection and you aren't giving it to him, he'll lick your hair, face or hand.

Both are short haired, declawed and spayed/neutered.

I would prefer to see them placed together, but the most important thing is finding a loving home for them.

TUCKER - Hi, my name is Tucker! I am “THE HANDSOMEST ORANGE TABBY IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!!!!”....or at least that’s what my foster parents say. I really like to follow humans around and then flop on my back for a tummy rub (Gets them every time). I love to be combed, especially my cheeks and neck and I love to have my head scratched. Can you tell that I’m a lover and not a fighter? I was wandering the streets of downtown for most of the summer, looking for someone to love me the way I deserve. But everyone thought I must belong to someone else because I’m so friendly and handsome…(did I mention I’m very handsome??). So here I am, ready to start my life over again in a home that will truly appreciate me. I am very healthy, completely vetted, neutered and micro-chipped and approximately 1 yr old. The only negative about me is that I’m FIV+, a common virus in stray cats. That means that I have to stay indoors (not a problemo for me...I’ve had enough of Street Life for one lifetime thank you very much) and also I can’t live with other cats..(too bad..so sad..heh..). Living with a dog is fine though and I’m open to having a dog pal….Just as long as they respect that I’m not a Dog..I’M A CAT!!! Sheesh!!...dogs can be so excitable don’t you think? WILLOW (grey&white, DMH) is a lovely little girl born approx June 11th, 2010. Willow is a great little hunter and eats absolutely anything you put in front of her. She LOVES canned tripe particularly, but will eat every type of wet food, dry food and even your leftovers!

he loves to sneak into the q-tips and scamper off with them, and like all kittens, she LOVES to attack the toilet paper! She's patient with the older grumpier cats in her foster home and gets silly and playful with them too - not taking no for an answer when she's ready for playtime.
Willow loves playing in the water, and will jump in the tub right after you're done.
She cuddles with the dogs every night and will sneak into your lap just when you think she's sleeping soundly. She would do best in a home with another pet...cat or dog or both,
as she really enjoys the company of other animals.

Rescued Kitties Need New Loving Homes!

Now all they need is loving homes. Sue Coules, the Helping Homeless Pets volunteer who spearheaded the sale at her Uno Drive home, said neighbours came from all around to give donations to help spay/neuter the cats and get them medical care. "We have picked up 26 stray cats already - 15 adults, mostly female, have been spayed and neutered and we have 11 adorable kittens for adoption," she wrote in an email to The Guardian. "Four of the adult cats are up for adoption also." The 11 kittens that are currently seeking homes include tabby, white, black, and multi-coloured kittens - all about eight weeks old. If interested in adoption, call Tina at 416-358-0083. While much work has already been done, Coules said the rescue group - a joint effort between Helping Homeless Pets, Action Volunteers for Animals and Toronto Cat Rescue - are still in need of more donations to get the remaining cats spayed and neutered and get them much-needed medical care. Anyone able to donate is asked to call Sue at 416-251-5523. Registered charity tax receipts are available for donations over $25.00. Online donations are also accepted at www.helpinghomelesspets.com (specifying "Animal Allies" as the rescue to receive donations). Coules said many thanks go out to the staff at Martin Veterinary Hospital, who volunteered to help with the Stray Cat Campaign by looking after 22 cats.

6 Year Old Male Kitty Needs A New Home!

Hello.

This sweet 6 yr old declawed neutered male black and white tuxedo cat was surrendered to a vets office and is now living on "boarded time" (one weeks boarding, is what is left on what was paid for). His owner indicated she loves him very much but her condo association had advised her to rehome the cat or move. She had tried to find a home for him but was unsuccessful and it has now come to the current crisis point.

He has been treated by the clinic and they can provide records. This cat was examined for any health related concerns as he has peed outside his litter box at his previous owners. There has been no litter box issues since he has been out of his owners home. Coaching and support regarding best ways to integrate this cat to a new home can be provided.

This is Mac. I got him from the Humane Society when I was 20 years old, and he was 2 months old, in August 2003. So that makes him 7 years old and some. I got him because I love cats, especially tuxedo cats, and an apartment without a cat felt like something was missing. I spent OSAP money on getting him fixed and taking care of a hernia he came with. Needless to say, like most 20 year olds, I wasn't thinking much about the future.

Though I try hard to be a conscientious pet owner, it never occurred to me when I got him that circumstances in my life would change to a point where I wouldn't be able to provide for Mac. Now I am almost 28, and they have. Changes in my personal life mean I have to move out of the studio I live in in Toronto, so I made the decision to move to London UK to pursue my career as a fashion illustrator, and am anticipating a number of years in my future where I won't have the stability and routine that Mac, like any indoor cat, craves.

So I am trying to find a new, kind home for Mac, and a new owner who understands and appreciates the habits of a grown-up cat. Mac is used to a quiet home, ideally without kids and dogs. He has lived with other cats and knows how to get along in a multi-cat home. I would be happy to make arrangements anywhere in Southern Ontario for the right owner. Mac has pretty quiet habits, and he mostly likes to be left alone. Like most cats, he spends a lot of time sleeping, sitting at the window, lying around.

He is somewhat shy. It takes a while for him to get comfortable around new people. He is affectionate with people he is familiar with, so if he seems a bit stand-offish at first, understand that he will warm up to you over time. Mac is an innately subservient animal. He tends to let other cats dominate, and just generally prefers to mind his own business.

He is comfortable around me, I can tell you that he is a very good friend to the people who take care of him and are patient enough to develop a relationship. He likes to sit next to me and be pet, he curls up at my feet when I sleep, and he is always affectionate towards me. He has a very quiet, subtle purr, and adorable mannerisms and expressions.

He still occasionally likes to play, especially with shoelaces and such, which is fun. Since he is a large cat (16 pounds and not at all overweight, just solid) he needs a very sturdy scratching post. I attached this carpet sample to the post in the studio and it is his preferred scratch central, so he's happy to leave furniture alone as long as you provide something more fun to scratch.

He takes good care of himself. He in good shape, and has a clean soft coat. He loves getting brushed and getting compliments on his fine appearance. He has to eat the Urinary SO food (about $19/month, at the vets), and as long as he gets this type of food he maintains a very healthy condition. He always gets fed twice a day and he meows when its time to eat.

"Little Black" This little guy showed up at my parents' door starving, made allies with their very territorial cat just so that he could eat. He is amazing, affectionate, friendly, gentle, adorable, and soaks in all the love he can get. He loves being brushed and trusts people. He grows stronger and more beautiful by the day, and is certain to show even more progress once he is off the streets and finds his true love. Could it be you? He is a beautiful homeless stray in the Whitby/ GTA/ Durham Region area. Super affectionate and just aching for a home and to call his own. A wonderful person has stepped forward and offered him a home, but requires that he be neutered before he can take him. My parents are seniors and cannot afford the cost. If you know someone willing to do the procedure for a reduced or no cost, please let me know. Of course, if you are willing to take him "as is" and offer him the love and vet care he needs, that would be wonderful too.
With the cool weather coming, lets get the message out there and help a great little cat find the perfect YOU to call his own.
Possibly less than a year old, his size is very small and light. He needs to be neutered and would need a vet visit, as the little guy has been outdoors all his life. He appears to be in good health, and has been getting stronger. He gets along well with the other cats in the neighborhood and is not alpha.

Stray Kitties Need Help!

Hi All,

I really need some assistance with a Mommy cat and her 5 day old kittens that were born last night before I could get mom into the vet.

I became involved in this on Tuesday August 17th. Long story short, I was supposed to go to the west end today at lunch to pick up a cat who is pregnant. The woman who called about the cat was quite worried, there was some kind of a discharge coming from somewhere, she was not sure exactly where. And the cat was lethargic, not eating or drinking, and restless. This is not her cat, but is a stray who she has let into her garage and has been feeding. Apparently this same cat was there just this past April and had a litter then. The woman found homes for the kittens but could not afford to spay the mother cat and could not find anyone to help, so she just stopped feeding her so that she would go away. Not going to comment on that.... Anyway, the cat came back pregnant again, to have her kittens there again I guess.

As I said, I was going to go and get her today and get her to the vet. But Mommy cat had 5 kittens last night and seems to be doing okay. And at least she is inside the garage and is being fed. The woman who is feeding her is highly allergic, by the way.

This Mom cat and her kittens need help. They are really not in a safe place. Friends of the the lady who is temporarily caring for them have made some cruel and horrible recommendations about what to do with her and her kittens!

Please, is there any person or any organization who might be able to take in this mother cat and her babies?

Mommy cat is a tiny calico who appears to be tame and loves to have her head rubbed and loves to be petted. She is quite the talker, and very clean. I will be sure that she goes to the vet for a thorough check up before she goes anywhere. And of course, she needs to be spayed when the time is right. I could cover the cost of the spay.

I know that this is a bad time of year, everyone is inundated. But this kitty and her babies really need help!!!

Dominic (b&w, DMH) is a very sweet little boy. Born approx June 11, 2010. He certainly loves company! When he’s not following his foster mom around, he can usually be found practicing his stalking and pouncing skills on the resident dogs or napping with his sisters. He is bold and outgoing and quite the poser as you can see. Life is a big adventure for Dominic! Of course after all of his explorations are complete he is content to collapse in a little heap of kittens on the nearest lap.

Willow (g&w, DMH) is a lovely little girl. Born approx June 11, 2010. Even though she might be a little quieter and calmer than her siblings, she is just as likely to join in a fun wrestling match with either her brother or her sister – or both at the same time, if she is feeling brave! She loves her naps, and will often find unusual places to sleep – apparently anywhere out of reach of the other kittens is ideal!

ADOPTING PENDING – Smudge (g&w DSH) is a very precocious girl! Born approx June 11, 2010. Although she seems a little quiet and shy at first, it doesn’t take much to draw her out of her shell. She loves to be touched and petted, and follows her foster mom around hoping for more attention. Although the smallest of the bunch, she is very brave and has proven to be quite the little hunter – well, with toys anyway! She LOVES toys, and will play with anything she can get her little paws on.

They have all been socialized with dogs in their foster home, and are quite comfortable with them.

Kitties Need A Home!

Hopefully you can find these guys a good home. They were born in my backyard a month or so ago now and they are adorable. I'd love to keep them, but with my schedule it's impossible.

They live outside right now and show up at my back door every day for dinner.

Can you please help me find my forver home? My name is Tyson.
My current foster/owner adopted me from a shelter that was closing. I know he loves me, but he travels so much that he can’t give me the stability I long for.
I am a big boy, 5 years old, about 115lb, & I am told I get my good looks from a mix of husky & rottie genes.
Despite my physical charm, I’m not a high-maintenance kind of guy. I’m quite content with a comfortable place to sit & think for most of the day, though I do enjoy a swim or a little stroll with my person.
I confess that thunder & dark places scare me a little. (There are some things in my past I’d rather forget.) Because of this, I really need someone to be patient and calm with me. I think small children might be a bit stressful for me, but I generally don’t mind other dogs.

My Adoption Story!

Are you looking for a new best friend? Far too often, many of us overlook the fact that there are countless cats and dogs available for rescue throughout the city. In all my years dealing with animals, I can honestly say that there is no greater joy than hearing from someone who has acquired a pet from an adoption or rescue group. Many people have a fear that these pets come with behavioral issues such as aggression, or poor potty habits. Truth be told, this can indeed be the case, but with the right amount of love and attention, it is quite easy to overcome these obstacles. In fact, you will be putting in the same amount of hours that you would be in training a new puppy! In many instances, there are pets who are already fully trained, but have been abandoned due to unforeseen circumstances. Take for instance Nelly (pictured), whose elderly owner went to an assisted living facility that does not allow dogs. As a result, Nelly, a very loving, fully trained and housebroken seven year old terrier mix, was placed in the care of the Toronto Humane Society. Happily, Nelly has found a new home (mine!), and is getting along great with his new brother! Within Toronto there are several rescue groups such as North Toronto Cat Rescue and Adopt-A-Dog/Save-A-Life who can help you find a new furry friend! Please keep in mind that many of these groups require an adoption application and thorough interview which, in my mind, is integral in "matching up" these needy animals with prospective owners. So next time you are considering an addition to your family, remember that there are so many abandoned and rescued pets who are just waiting to fill your home with love, and in return get the love they so richly deserve.

Foster Home Needed For German Shepherd

hi everyone, we are desperately seeking a good foster home for VinDiesell, a beautiful 10 month old shepherd (neutered) boy. there is some medical stuff to deal with for him (see below) which is why it's important for him to be in a home environment, but it all seems treatable. just probably caused by poor diet and neglect. we are awaiting some blood test results right now. he seems okay with cats on initial introduction.

The shepherd was an owner surrender, his name is Diesel but am calling him VinDiesel. He is 10 months old! He is in urgent need of medical care, he has black/grey elephant skin, I personally think he has a severe yeast infestation/infection, his ears are terrible too. I am desperate to find him a foster home. He passed assessments and was amazing so good with everything. I have met him and he is a sweet boy. I've attached his pictures, take a look at his underside, it's horrible.

My sister, Anjos Mazzanti has contacted you recently regarding the fostering or adoption of my sister MaryJo's cats Sadie and Charlie. My sister, Anjos, is having some difficulty sending the pictures and biography on Sadie and Charlie and has asked that I forward them on to you.

MaryJo suffered a spinal cord injury on July 13, 2010 and is currently in hospital awaiting a transfer to a spinal cord rehab facility where I am told her recovery could be as long as 2 years. MaryJo will be re-taught basis life skills and how to function as a disabled person. If you can help us find a loving foster or forever home for her cats while MaryJo concentrates on her long recovery, our family would be so grateful.
